Visakhapatnam: The National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) has signed an extension Memorandum of Understanding with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in New Delhi. The MOU was exchanged between Commodore Amit Rastogi (Retired), CMD, NRDC and John Cabeca, US Intellectual Property Advisor for South Asia.

The objective of the bilateral cooperation agreement between the NRDC and the USPTO under this MoU is to carry out joint programs for the organization of training programs and capacity building in the field of IPRs, technology transfer and commercialization; exchange of information in the field of acquisition of intellectual property rights, technology transfer policy and practice; Organize IP conferences, symposiums, seminars, workshops, IP public awareness campaigns to promote innovation/economic growth of our country.

In the past, the NRDC has conducted many such activities and initiatives in conjunction with the USPTO. The NRDC is a National Technology Transfer Organization, under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India and plays a pivotal role in intellectual property management, technology transfer and commercialization in the country and bridges the gap between academia and industry in developing technologies from laboratory scale to commercial level.
